Gerald Dean Anderson

Gerald Anderson passed away Tuesday, February 04, 2014 at a local care facility. Gerald was born September 12, 1932, in Perryton, (Ochiltree County} Texas to William Lee and Mary Delia Tarr Anderson.
 
Mr. Anderson taught school in the Weatherford ISD for 32 years and was a member of the South Main Church of Christ.
 
Gerald moved to Weatherford in 1938. He graduated WHS in May 1949 and ACC in 1954. He then served in the Army from Feb 1955 to Dec. 1956; stationed in Aschaffenburg, Germany.
 
Mr. Anderson began teaching at WISD in 1957.  He taught Geography, Math then Science: Physical Science and Chemistry. He taught at the old High School on South Alamo for 11 years. He also taught at WJHS on Charles Street. From 1970 to 1989 he taught at WHS on South Main. He started teaching Drivers Ed in 1976 and retired from Driver's Education May of 2009. Mr. Anderson retired from teaching October 31, 1989.
 
Mr. Anderson is preceded in death by a wife, Martha who died of cancer September 14, 1991, his parents, Mary Tarr Anderson and William Lee Anderson; brothers, Lewis Anderson and Glenn Anderson and sister, Wilma Anderson Justice and her husband, Joe Justice.
 
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; sons, Perry Anderson, and Paul Latham and wife, Ally; two daughters Lisa Roark and husband, Jerry; Diane Elliott and husband, Roger; brother, Gary Anderson and wife, Pat, of Anna, Texas; sister-in-law, Becky Anderson of Weatherford and eight grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at South Main Church of Christ. Visitation is from 1 to 3 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
