Gary Wayne Gillespie, 74, of Aledo, Texas went home to be with the Lord on December 12, 2021 after a courageous, six-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. Gary passed away peacefully at his home with family and friends by his side.

Gary was born on August 14, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas. He grew up in Whitt, Texas and graduated from Perrin High School in 1965. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marines from 1966-1968 and was stationed in Vietnam. He married Cecelia Clark in 1968.

He began his career in the Aerospace industry in 1968 working for what later became Vought Aircraft in Grand Prairie, TX. He worked as a Material Program Manager until he retired in 2004. He was retired six months when he was called back to work, working another ten years. He retired again in 2014, working a total of 46 years for the same company.

Gary was kind, generous, caring, unselfish, humorous and could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. He was always the life of the party. His interests included running, dove hunting, fishing, classic cars, playing pool, poker, and shuffleboard, spending time with his family and friends, and, of course, his dogs. Gary was an active member of Grace Community Fellowship in Weatherford, Texas and previously served on various Weatherford city boards.

Gary is survived by his wife of 20 years, Lee Ann Gillespie; his daughter, Tammy Herring; his son, Ethan Gillespie; his granddaughter, Brittany Cooper; brother, Kenneth Gillespie (Billie); sister, Rita Clack (Stan); nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ilene Gillespie.

The visitation will be Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Grace Community Fellowship, 111 W. Ranch Lane, Weatherford, Texas 76088. His funeral service will also be held at Grace Community Fellowship Friday, December 17, 2021 at 10:00 AM.
