Garnett Naomi Scott

December 7, 1928 — December 23, 2019

Garnett Naomi Scott passed away at her home in Weatherford Texas on December 23, 2019. Although she was a long time resident of Weatherford, she was born Toledo Ohio to Robert and Faye Sullivan and raised in Bowling Green. Garnett was the oldest of four girls and her sisters Joy, Lou, and Sue preceded her in death.

Garnett moved to Mineral Wells, Texas when she graduated from High School to join her family. She met Grimes Caskey Scott at the historic Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells where they both worked. On January 9, 1949 the couple married and moved to Weatherford where they bought and restored a 100-year old home and raised a family of five children. The oldest son, John Robert Scott preceded Garnett and Grimes in death in 1979 while the remaining children Stephanie Anne Scott, Susan Scott Spain, Elizabeth (Lisa) Scott Arceneaux and Peter Alan Scott live in Texas.

Garnett and Grimes opened Tamyak, the first commercial, licensed Child Day Care Center in Weatherford, and it operated from 1969 to 1983. Hundreds of kids were cared for at Tamyak Day Care Center and Garnett was well known and loved by many Weatherford children. She had a knack for understanding little kids and making them feel important, cared for and safe. In retirement Garnett enjoyed gardening, reading, walking her dog Scooter, drinking coffee on the patio and having adventures with her 9 grandkids. She also had 3 great grandchildren.

Garnett passed away peacefully in her home after the loving care of her family, Encompass nurses and Visiting Angels.

The family would especially like to thank the love and care provided to our mom from Emely, Juana and Eulogia during her last months of life.

The family will celebrate Garnett's life in the Spring at her home in Weatherford.
