Fred Herbert Potter

August 27, 1956 — June 29, 2015

Fred Herbert Potter, 58, of Weatherford passed away June 29, 2015. The youngest of two sons, Fred was born to H.R. “Bobby” and Ruth Potter on August 27, 1956. Fred attended school in Weatherford and later went on to earn a B.A. in Chemistry from Texas A&M University in 1978. He graduated from the UTSA Dental School in 1983 and returned to Weatherford to practice dentistry. Fred married the former Beth Moore of Stratford, Texas, in 1986. Their only son, Trenton Fred Potter, was born in 1993. Dr. Potter provided exceptional dental care to the residents of Parker County for over 30 years. He truly loved being a dentist and helping his patients. He was a member of several professional organizations including the ADA, TDA, FWDDS, and the AGD. He served as president of the Society of Dentistry for Children. A proud Aggie, Fred also served as the President of the Parker County Aggie Club. He also acted as chairman for the local chapter of the American Cancer Society. Fred was a kind and caring individual. Without fail, he had a story to tell or a joke to share. Dr. Potter had a servant’s heart and believed in helping those in need by giving back- whether it was helping children through the Save A Smile Program or providing hospital dentistry. He had a passion for learning and valued sharing his faith with others whether it was leading a men’s breakfast study group or teaching children in Sunday School. Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He was always open to a new adventure- traveling to new places and trying new food. He raised goats and donkeys on his family’s land. He loved going to the movies and the live theatre. He liked watching sports and cheering on his favorite players and coaches- his family! Fred believed his family was his greatest gift. He is survived by his loving wife, Beth, father and mother-in-law Ed and Marge Moore of Stratford, brother and sister-in-law Roger and Marjeanne Moore of Amarillo, cousins Mary Louise and Ted Zepnikowski of Virginia, Tad and Mercy Zepnikowski of Virginia, and Andrew and Shannon Zepnikowski of Virginia. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces Zack and Crisha Potter of Belton, Brian and Amber Johnston of Corsicana, Howie Potter of Arlington, Bruce and Monica Bryant of Canadian, Kendell and Mandie Moore of Idalou, Jake and Trisha Jenkins of Lubbock, Nissa and Virgil Hillock of Amarillo, Erika and Phillip Morgan of Carrollton, Nick and Desiree Frey of Amarillo, Cliff Moore of Ponder, Cody and Kristen Moore of Abilene, and Craig and Ashton Moore of Ponder.
