Long time Fort Worth resident, Evelyn Smith Vogel passed away quietly on November 1, 2021. She was 93.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip O. Vogel, and brother, Bennett Lawson Smith, Jr.
All things Texas, especially Fort Worth and Weatherford were her interests. She loved history. She was proud of her family’s pioneer heritage in the area. She was a long-time member of the Colonial Dames of America, Texas Map Society and Tarrant County Historical Society. She was a graduate of Paschal High School and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
Evelyn leaves behind two loving daughters, Elizabeth (Lizann) Rowell and Catherine Jones; grandchildren, Justin and Mallory Rowell, Melissa Kircher and Timothy Jones; and three great grandchildren, Bowen and Lawson Kircher, and Julian Rowell.
She will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m., on November 5th, at Bethesda Cemetery, next to her parents, Bennett L. and Elizabeth Smith, in the quiet countryside near Bethesda United Methodist Church and her beloved Smith family farm.
The family is grateful to Grace Eban and Dr. Allan Kelly for Evelyn’s care.
