Emma Rose Bennett

August 20, 1913 — February 13, 2010

Emma Rose Bennett, 96, of Weatherford, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010 with her children by her side.  Rose was born August 20, 1913 in Austin, Texas, one of eight children to Albert Pulliam and Margaret Emma Thornton Scott.

At an early age Mrs. Bennett experienced the loss of not only a sibling but each of her parents.  Rose attended Southwestern Baptist Seminary in 1932-33.  She felt privileged to attend seminary with evangelists such as J. Frank Norris.
Her lifelong mission for Christ; encourage others in times of need.  Faithfully she created individual cards, sending many thousands over her lifetime and until her last days.  Inspiration, hope and love could be found in the message of scripture within.

Emma Rose married John Doak Bennett, July 25, 1935.  Together they attended North Side Baptist Church where she was also a Sunday school teacher for almost sixty years.  Doak preceded her in death in 1997.

Survivors include her daughter, Elaine Robertson and husband Jimmy of Norman, Oklahoma; sons, Joel Bennett and wife, Donna of Brenham, TX, and Doug Bennett and wife Martha, of Weatherford, TX, eight grandchildren, Jennie Bennett, Kimberly Cole, Cynthia Forrest, Stephen Robertson, Dr. John Robertson, Dwayne Bennett, Jerry Bennett and Jimmy Bennett; seventeen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Tuesday at North Side Baptist Church.  Visitation is from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at a private service following the funeral.
