Edith Monterey Gee Bunch

November 4, 1925 — February 20, 2017

Edith Monterey Gee Bunch passed away peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2017 at her home in Fort Worth, Texas. Edith leaves a large and grieving family and many friends and neighbors behind.
Edith Gee was born to Mack and Bessie Gee in Granbury Texas on November 4, 1925. She attended and graduated from Fall Creek Schools, and went on to complete her RN training at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. Edith met Johnny Bunch at Arlington Heights Methodist Church, and they were soon married. After a career in the Air Force, the family moved to Vicksburg, Mississippi, where they owned and operated Vicksburg Transfer and Storage. After retirement, the family moved to Abilene, Texas, where they opened a Bonanza Restaurant.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband John Leroy Bunch, Jr., parents, sisters Maxine Gee Baze and Oma Mae Gee, brothers Lewis Gee, Truman Gee, Burl Gee and Leo Gee, son John Leroy Bunch III, and granddaughter Terran Bunch Spencer.
She is survived by her children, Debbie and Bill Mendrop of Weatherford, Texas, Kay and Mark Dresser of Fort Worth, Texas, Roger Bunch and Anthony Waters of Fort Worth, Texas, and Edie and Jerry Atwell of Plano, Texas, grandchildren Lindsey and Brian Brewer, serving in SE Asia, Alyson and Taylor Sandlin of San Angelo, Texas, John Bunch IV, Cody Dresser and Lindy Dresser of Fort Worth, Texas, and 7 great-grandchildren, sister Nadine Livesay of Arlington, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank caretaker Elmira Callao and Vitas Healthcare for their loving care during the last days.
A celebration of remembrance will be held at Lakeshore Drive Baptist Church in Weatherford, Texas on March 18, 2017 at 2:00. Interment is at Sam Houston National Military Park in San Antonio, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Edith Bunch to Underground Coffee International (www.undergroundcoffee.org), Brewer’s ministry, or ALS Association (www.ALS.org) in memory of John Bunch, Jr.
