Donnie William Rowland, 88, of Weatherford, TX, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 17, 2018 at Medical City Hospital. He was born in Big Spring, TX on April 28, 1929 to Wriley Donnie Rowland and Vernon Hart. A former resident of Midland, TX. He resided at Martin Crest Assisted Living in Weatherford, TX until his passing.

Donnie was raised in Marshall, TX where he played high school football. He attended Daniel Baker College on a football scholarship where he received his bachelor's degree in 1951. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. He retired from Texaco in 1989 where he was an accountant for 35 years. Donnie was active in the DBC (Daniel Baker College) Billy Club and DBC Ex-student Association where he served as president and later was inducted into the Daniel Baker Hall of Honor. He had been active in multiple civic affairs and professional organizations such as Boy Scouts of America as a Scout Leader, President of the Good "Sam" West Texas Gadabout Chapter, President of West Texas-New Mexico Federal Credit Union and many other organizations. Donnie was a passionate man who enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling with family and friends. One passion he had until the end was his love for singing.

Donnie was extremely loving and proud of his daughter, Karen Jones of Weatherford, TX, and son, Michael Rowland and his wife Mary, stepdaughters Janis Boyle of Lago Vista, TX and Barbara Sledge of Midland, TX. He is also survived by his brother Delbert Rowland of Dallas, TX; as well as 6 loving grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife Mary Ann Rowland, and then by wife Joyce B Rowland, who both held a very special place in his heart.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park at 4616 North Big Spring, Midland, TX. The family requests in lieu of flowers, that donations may be made in Donnie's name to Howard Payne University, 1000 Fisk Street, Brownwood, TX 76801, Attention: DBC Alumni Association.
