Donald Ray Whisenant, age 90, of Weatherford, died Saturday evening, October 6, 2012 in the local hospital. Mr. Whisenant was born February 4, 1922 in Mansfield He was a resident of Weatherford and Parker County for many years. Ray was a retired automobile mechanic, owned and operated “Aledo Mobil” for 20 years and was a member of the New Faith Baptist Church. He was a devout Christian who loved doing the Lord’s work. His favorite past-time was spending time with his family. He also loved hunting and anything involving the out of doors. Mr. Whisenant set an excellent example for everyone with whom he came in contact, on how to be a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. He could always be counted on to help in any situation. He was greatly loved, admired and respected by his family, friends and community. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Viva Whisenant, brothers, Coke Whisenant, Bob Whisenant and Myrl Whisenant, sister, Betty Jo Norris and son, David Whisenant.
Survivors: wife, Clara Whisenant of Weatherford; daughters, Marlene Hoover of Fort Worth, Sonja Spain and husband, Ken of Aledo and Neysa Clark of Fort Worth; son, Steve Whisenant of Gordon; sister-in-law, Dorothy Whisenant of Lipan; brother, Bill Whisenant and Carolyn of Gadsden, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Terri Cox, Bryan Sharpe, Shanna O’Donnell, Jalie Spain, Lacie Whisenant, Ray Whisenant, Jennifer Holcomb and Clay Clark; twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, October 11, 2012 in the
Galbreaith Pickard Chapel with interment in Annetta CemeteryVisitation will be 6-8 PM on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the funeral home.
