Don Wilson Martin

May 11, 1936 — February 17, 2014

Don Wilson Martin passed away February 17, 2014 in Dallas.  Don was born in Poolville Texas to Murray and Ruth Martin.  He was one of six children.  Don had a passion for bowling, was a fan of John Wayne and he could quote scores for the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.  Don served our country for twenty-two years, first in the U.S. Marines and then in the U.S. Army.  After retiring from the service, he spent a lot of time traveling with work as a self-employed courier for the advertising industry.  Don married Barbara and together they blended their families into one.  Together they raised their families in the Weatherford area.  Proud members of North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford Don and Barbara celebrated twenty-five years of marriage in May 2013.
Don leaves behind his bride, Barbara; son Don Andrew Martin and his wife Shelby, daughters Mary Martin, Jennifer Robinson and her husband Will, son Brett Shumway and his wife Tracy, daughters Karen Shumway, Karen Sharp, Cynthia Tyre, Gaylene Tilley; sister Mary Frances Inman and her husband Dave; brothers Paul Martin and his wife Linda, Ronnie Martin; nineteen grandchildren and a slew of great grandchildren.  Don was preceded in death by his sons Kevin Tilley and Brian Tilley; brother Murray Earl Martin, sister Daphne Peel and his parents Murray and Ruth Martin.

A visitation will be held Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  A memorial service will be held Friday, February 21, 2014 at North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford Texas at 10:30 a.m.
