David Errol Brown

December 21, 1946 — October 15, 2014

David Errol Brown (B-Paw), 67, of Weatherford flew into the arms of Jesus on October 15, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family. He endured a courageous fight with Pancreatic Cancer. David was born on December 21, 1946 in Houston, TX to Delno and Carmel Brown. David had two sisters, Susie and Glenda. David married the love of his life, Melody Jo Jones, on August 16, 1969 at Couts Methodist Church. David attended Barber's Hill school and completed his high school years at Allen Academy in Bryan, TX. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts from Texas Christian University-summa cum laude and was commissioned by TCU ROTC as a 2nd Lieutenant. David served in the United States Army and was a decorated war veteran in the 82nd Airborne Division. David also received an Industrial Arts degree from Tarleton State University. David served as a Captain of the Weatherford Fire Department and received the Fireman of the Year Award in 1981. David was an avid outdoorsman and was a master woodworker. He loved Malt Shop tunes, southern gospel and was a member of the Crimson River Quartet who traveled and performed together for many years. He always wore his TCU Purple proudly! David made a profession of Faith at the age of eight and followed Jesus his entire life. David was an ordained deacon at North Side Baptist Church and served the children's ministry of NSBC for approximately 40 years beginning by being director of the Royal Ambassadors(RA's) and then as the 1st grade Sunday School teacher until present. First  grade Sunday School at North Side Baptist Church is known for its Armor of God series in which each year he helped each child make their own armor as well as crafting a wooden sword for each of them. The Medieval theme was special to David, as his first date with Melody included going to see the movie Camelot. David was a quiet servant with a sense of humor that we all loved and cherished and will remember always. His life touched an innumerable amount of people. He lived his life as an example of a Child of Christ helping each one he came in contact with to focus on the Kingdom of God. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Melody Jo Jones Brown; his children Mende JoDel Feriend and husband Adam and Dustin Errol Brown and wife Doria. Five precious grandchildren: Adison LeRoy Feriend(10), Asher Luke Feriend(7), Easton David Brown(7), Ace Landry Feriend(4), and Adia Rae Brown(3). He is also survived by two sisters, Susie Love and Glenda Brown and husband Lloyd; mother in law Evelyn Fern Jones; brother in law Randy Jones and wife Alice as well as numerous nieces and nephews. David is preceded in death by his parents, Delno and Carmel Brown; father in law, Joseph R. Jones and his brother in law, Jim Love.

Visitation: North Side Baptist on Sunday October 19, from 4:00PM to 7:00 PM.

Funeral service: North Side Baptist Church on Monday, October 20th, at 2:00 PM.

Interment immediately following at Brock Cemetery
