David Arnold Hinshaw, 76, of Weatherford, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2007 in Weatherford.Services       Tuesday, January 9, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at Beulah Baptist ChurchInterment        Greenwood Community CemeteryVisitation        Monday, January 8, 2007, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.Born November 21, 1930 in Whitt, TX the youngest child of W.D. (Bill) Hinshaw and Annie Barker Hinshaw. He attended school at Whitt, Salesville and Mineral Wells. He went into the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, from 1950 to 1954 and served aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Point Cruz. He went to work for the Texas Dept. Of Transportation in 1955 and retired after more than 32 years of faithful service in 1987. He then worked for 6 years, under then Parker Co. Commissioner Mark Riley as his assistant and retired again 1993. He married Elfreida Blocker on June 8, 1956. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in June of this year. Two children, David L. and Frana L. made their lives complete. The addition of three grandchildren added to their full enjoyment of life. Taylor, Sladen and Hannah were the apples of Poppy’s eye. He loved them so much. David was an avid gardener who took great delight in his garden and especially his tomatoes. He shared all he grew with family and friends. David also had a great sense of humor and could entertain all with his stories, some true, some not. He was a good and faithful Christian man who loved his God and cherished his family. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Millsap, TX. Survivors include his wife, Elfreida, son, David L., daughter, Frana Finley and husband Curtis, brother, W.F. (Short) Hinshaw and wife Tillie, sister Dorothy Schindler. His grandchildren, Taylor, Sladen and Hannah, many family members and friends, as well as fishing buddies Bob and Sam Shewmake, mourn his passing. He has joined Christ with his parents, brothers Jim and Willie (Buck) Hinshaw, and sisters Ellen Walker and Ozella Sears Barham.
