Cecil Truman Minshew

Cecil Truman Minshew, 88, of Perrin died Saturday, October 4, 2008 in a Fort Worth hospice facility. Born November 24, 1919 in Sweetwater, he was a resident of Parker County for many years. Cecil joined the National Guard in 1940 as a member of the 2nd battalion 131st field artillery 36th division. He was captured on Java and spent 3 1/2 years as a POW in various Japanese prisoner of war camps. Upon returning he took a cosmetology course and opened a shop with wife Helen Minshew. He later returned to school at University of North Texas while working part time. He earned a BA teaching degree and taught 6th grade in the Birdville school district for 17 years. Cecil is preceded in death by his parents Luther and Alma Minshew, sister Adel Minshew and brothers Hermit and Merle Minshew. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen Minshew of Perrin, his children; Cindy Masten of Sanger, Drew Minshew of Grand Prairie, Anna Sue Nichols of Phenix City Alabama, sisters; Reba Glass and Billie Wooley, brothers; Joe Minshew, Arthur (Buddy) Minshew, C.L. Minshew, nine grandchildren; Stephen Masten of Lewisville, Cassandra Gaston of Graford, Sgt. William Jersey of Ft. Hood, Jeremy Minshew of Arlington, Maigan Jersey of Statesville, NC Jacob Minshew of Grand Prairie, Jarred, Joshua and Katelynn Minshew of Perrin and six great grandchildren. Funeral service: 2:00 PM, Wednesday October 8, 2008 at Bethesda United Methodist Church with Rev. Kenneth Bergeron officiating. Interment: Bethesda Cemetery.
