Carroll Pete Surginer

September 6, 1941 — February 21, 2016

Carroll “Pete” Surginer, 74, of Weatherford, went home to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, February 21 after a brave and hard fought battle with COPD.  Pete was born in Fort Worth to John Surginer and Gladys Wiggins Surginer on September 6, 1941, but was a lifelong resident of Weatherford attending Weatherford schools.  Pete served in the National Guard and Army.  He spent 32 years of his working career as a security officer at General Dynamics/Lockheed-Martin where he retired.   He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Hilltop Baptist Church of Weatherford.  Pete enjoyed activities that included antique cars, attending church and family activities.  The term used most in describing Pete is that he was “the life of the party”.  He will be remembered so fondly by his family and friends.
Pete is survived by the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Mona Martin Surginer; daughter and son-in-law, Ramona and Barney Ellis; daughter, Sheila Florence; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny Ray and Addie Surginer; twin sister, Carolyn Huddleston; grandson, Colt Ellis; granddaughter and husband, Brittney and Ryan McWhorter; grandson and wife, Clifton and Carrie Ellis; great grandson, Phoenix McWhorter, great grandson “Baby E.” on the way and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Pete is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Shelly Louise Surginer.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Lung Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.



Visitation: 6:00- 8:00 pm Wednesday, February 24 at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel
Funeral: 10:00 am Thursday, February 25 in the Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel
Burial: Bethel Cemetery
