Carl Leroy Janssen

Carl LeRoy Janssen, 73, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 in Pharr, Texas. Carl was born November 25, 1947 in Manning, Iowa to Glen Gus and Donna Mae Staples Janssen. He graduated in 1966 from Williams High School in Williams, Iowa then enlisted in the US Army; serving for three years during the Vietnam War. Carl married the love of his life, Peggy Marlene Green on March 8, 1970 and together they raised three children. In 1982, they moved to Weatherford where he worked for Master Shield and owned and operated a rock hauling business. He was first and foremost a family man who enjoyed supporting his children in all endeavors. Carl was a member of the American Legion in Williams, Iowa and enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and watching John Wayne westerns. He will be remembered for being a loving husband, father and grandfather. Carl attended his grandchildren's sporting events and was always their biggest fan. He will live on as their angel in the outfield. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother -in-law, Harry and Esther Green, brothers-in-law, Richard Green and Curtis Green and sister-in-law, Judith Grove. 

Carl is survived by his wife, Peggy M Janssen; children; Lora Janssen-Carlisle, Brian Janssen and wife Karla, Marcia and husband Rann Parsons, grandchildren; Alli Stilwell and husband Coleman, Landon Carlisle, Liam Janssen, Delanee, Rendon, Huxley and Harlin Parsons; nephew and niece that joined the family Bill and his wife Shannan Grove, Nikki Grove, and the bonus grandchildren they brought with them, Blake, Brandon, Bryce and Samantha Grove, Cale and wife Emily Hadaway and their daughter Hazle, Lacy and daughter Kali Hadaway and Tristan Vesterby, 8 brothers and sisters and multiple nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm, Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at North Side Baptist Church with Van Houser officiating. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Janssen family has requested donations in lieu of flowers to help offset unpredicted funeral and other expenses.
