Bruce A. Barksdale, Sr.

Bruce A. Barksdale, Sr., age 79, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at his home in Weatherford.  Bruce was born August 13, 1933 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Early and Birdie Mae Barksdale. He married Shelia Lucas on June 20, 1992 in Weatherford, Texas. He was an Army Veteran of 8 years having served in Korea. Bruce has lived in Weatherford since the early 50’s. He retired from Insurance after 35 years were he took top honors and many trips.
Bruce’s love and hobby of his poultry farm became his thriving business where he sold from home and attended Weatherford and McKinney trade days for nearly 50 years.  Mr. Barksdale is preceded in death by his son, Bruce A. Barksdale, Jr., his mother, father and brother.
Mr. Barksdale is survived by his wife; Shelia Barksdale, son Douglas Barksdale, daughter Weida Mae Barksdale and fiancé’ James Nelson, son, Michael Lucas and wife Kristan all of Weatherford, daughter, Courtney Whitman and husband Rodie of South Dakota, grandchildren, Kash and Hudson Lucas, Sage and Allie Whitman, Destiny and Hagen Nelson as well as his extended family, Trena Westbrook, Trudy Bennet, Seth Fontenot and children.

Funeral service will be
held at 10:00 am Friday, July 12, 2013 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral
Chapel. Interment in Spring Creek Cemetery. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday
at the funeral home.
