Berniece Green Covey, age 90, of Weatherford, died Saturday, January 6, 2007, in a Weatherford nursing center.
Graveside service is at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2007, Newport Cemetery, in Jack County.
Berniece was born December 12, 1916, in Ira, Texas, to Oscar S. “Doc” and Janie Smithers Green. She owned Covey's Beauty Salon in Fort Worth from 1945 to 1953. She then moved to Bowie where she owned Modern Beauty Shop for 20 years.
An avid deep sea and fresh water fisherman, she enjoyed growing flowers and belonged to various garden clubs. Berniece loved ranching with her husband Houston Covey who preceded her in death.
Survivors: Daughter, Gail Covey Hutson and husband, D.G. "Red" of Weatherford; sister, Charlotte Green Lloyd and husband, Dr. Robert Lloyd of Houston; grandchildren, Jason Covey Hutson of Aledo and Janna Hutson Blumentritt of Weatherford; and great grandchildren; Marlowe Hutson, Layne Hutson, and Blair Blumentritt.
