Audra Lee Fontenot

Audra Lee Fontenot, 80, of Aledo, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010 in a Fort Worth hospital. Audra was born October 18, 1929 in Weatherford, to Dan and Jewell McEntire. She was a nurse for Dr. Edison when Campbell Hospital was still on North Main Street. Audra and her late husband, Robert were members of Coast to Coast Travelers and she loved playing at the Spring Creek musicals. Her most precious hobby was writing songs and poems, and she even sold some jingles. Audra enjoyed going to bluegrass festivals, where she would tell her stories, through ballads about her travels and all the people she met.  She retired from Ranch Style Beans as a graphic designer.  She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving Audra are three daughters, Judy Etkins and husband, Lowell, Sheran Martin, and Linda Cole, two sons, DeWayne Whitehead and wife, Arlene, and Ronnie Whitehead and wife, Susan, two step-daughters, Trudy Benet, and Trina Westbrook, step-brother, Carroll Whitfield, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Graveside service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, May 27, 2010 at City Greenwood Cemetery.
