Aubrey Dean Vaughan

Aubrey Dean Vaughan was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend of many in the Weatherford area. He passed away on October 22, 2021 at the age of 68. Even during his brief battle with cancer, Dean showed his spirit of friendship, kindness to others, and willingness to share a smile and a joke. Dean was born in Jacksboro, Texas on September 18, 1953 to Juanita and Robert Vaughan. He grew up in Fort Worth, moving to Weatherford in 1972 to attend Weatherford College and work with his uncle at a local nursery. It was at the nursery where he met the love of his life, Debbie. Together they had one child: Jason. Debbie and Dean celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary this past June.
A life-long truck driver and long-time employee of Winn-Dixie, Dean recently retired from the C.D. Hartnett Company. He very adeptly switched from driving a truck every day to driving a nine-iron every day. Besides golf, Dean was an avid gardener and landscaper, always managing to find a new project for his home’s yard, which is still considered the nicest yard in the neighborhood. He is fondly remembered for his ever-present openness to lend a hand on a project, whether big or small.
Dean is survived by his wife Debbie; son Jason and son-in-law Scott Nichols of Annapolis, Maryland; sister Sarah Hare of Wichita Falls; brother Bobby Vaughan of Plano; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and an extended family of cherished friends, including the Hubbards, the Messimers and the Purdys.
A service is scheduled for 3 pm on Saturday, October 30 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to local animal shelters, the Humane Society of North Texas, or Community Healthcare of Texas.
