Annye Beryle Davidson Brooks

Annye Beryle Davidson Brooks, 95, formerly of Weatherford, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, May 19, 2016, at Green Oaks Nursing and Rehab in Arlington. Annye was born April 6, 1921, in Parker County, Texas, to John T. Davidson and Beulah M. Thompson.  Annye Beryle attended schools in the Weatherford area and was employed there as a telephone operator when she married Sgt. Joe Truett (Red) Brooks on October 30, 1942.  They raised two daughters in Clovis, NM where Annye later became a school librarian and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.   Following the death of her husband, she relocated to Fort Worth in 1987 to be near her daughters and their families, becoming a member of Handley United Methodist Church.  Annye, a.k.a. Mother, Granny, Sister, Aunt Sister, Ann, Mrs. “B” or A.B., enjoyed family gatherings, gospel music, “42” games, history, witty retorts, and the daily comics.  Her family wishes to thank the staff of Senior Care of Green Oaks in Arlington for their care over her 8 years of residence there and the Alpha Omega Hospice of Ft. Worth. Annye Beryle is survived by her daughters: Joan Hobbs and husband, Melvin, Gwen Buttrill and husband, Walter; 6 grandchildren: Melinda Hobbs Newell (Ronnie), Marlon Hobbs (Karen), Monty Hobbs, (Christiane), Matthew Hobbs (Jamie), Tyler Buttrill (Sarah), Traci Buttrill Funk (Geoff);  nine great-grandchildren: Noah, Mikayla, Callie, Cameron, Micah, and Johanna Hobbs, Ainsley and Dalton Funk, Hank Buttrill; her sister, Verna Jensen; 3 nieces, a nephew, numerous cousins and friends.  In addition to her parents, Annye Beryle was preceded in death by her husband, Joe T. Brooks in 1985.  

Visitation will be held from 2 until 4, Sunday, May 22, at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford.   A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 23, at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Mukewater Cemetery in Bangs, Texas.   Remembrances may be made to the Alpha Omega Hospice, P.O. Box 162041, Ft. Worth, TX  76161 or to a charity of your choice.
