Anne Janice Stokes

Anne “Janice” Stokes age 74, of Weatherford went to be with the Lord May 28, 2017. She was born to John Thomas Newsom and Maurine Ticer Newsom in Brownfield, Texas. Janice enjoyed going out to eat, playing with her grandchildren, watching the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech football. Janice worked as a Walmart cashier and was a member of North Side Baptist Church. Janice married the love of her life Wilford “Sonny” Stokes in 1965. Those blessed to know Janice were touched in a very unique way.

Janice is survived by her daughter Rayanne Hukill and husband Mickey; grandchildren, Nisha Gilbert and husband Stephen, Mika Foreman and husband John; great-grandchildren Samuel Gilbert, Myranda Cain and Joshua Foreman.

She was preceded in death by her husband earlier this year Wilford “Sonny” Stokes; her parents; daughter Connie Renae Stokes in 1972 and her brother Clayton Newsom.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Terry County Memorial Park in Brownfield, TX. James Plowman will officiate. Visitation 6-8pm Friday, June 2, 2017 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Muscular Dystrophy Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or your favorite charity.
