Philip Edmond Burr

PHILIP EDMOND BURR at 79 years old, Phil left us to join our Lord and Savior and live with his Mother and oldest son on July 18, 2016.
Born in Plainfield, NJ, he grew up on the Jersey Shore and during his teens enjoyed being a lifeguard. Because of this he always liked to vacation on a beach. Phil graduated from Leonardo High School, Leonardo, NJ and attended the University of Maryland where he was President of the Freshman Class, and President of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity. Served in the US Army 1961 to 1964 in the Counter Intelligence Corps. He and his first wife, Meredith Reid McDonald, had two sons and a daughter, whom he absolutely adored. After moving to Weatherford he frequented South Padre Island and an occasional cruise. During most of his career he was in management handling warehousing and transportation and made many friends in those industries. On his time off, he mostly stayed outdoors, gardening (vegetables and roses), mowing and trimming. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul McCroskey and Mildred Buffon Burr; sister, Sheila Obre; a half-sister, Diane Ward; and his son, Randal Edmond Burr.
Survivors include his first wife, Meredith R. McDonald; current wife, Charlene Purmort Burr; son, Christopher Edmond Burr; and daughter, Lauren Burr Miller; half-sister Paulette McCroskey Culhane; half-brothers Dennis and Paul McCroskey; and was delighted with his 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a cancer research charity of your choice.
