Pastor Lee "Rusty" Ray Bloodworth

Pastor Lee “Rusty” Ray Bloodworth, 76, died peacefully at home with his family by his side on January 26, 2018, in Weatherford, Texas. He was born on November 6, 1941 in Orlando, Florida to Clinton and Marvel Bloodworth. He was the oldest of nine children. He entered the Army in 1959, becoming a member of the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers. He was a light weapons specialist, cryptologist, and D. F. Operator. He served in the Army until 1962, when he was Honorably Discharged. He met Melba across a neighbor’s fence in Florida, where he retrieved a baseball thrown into the next yard where she “just happened to be.” Rusty married Melba in 1963, then settled in Alabama and began a family. Rusty loved to travel to the Great Smoky Mountains and to the beaches of Florida. Rusty was saved in 1967 and began his ministry as an Evangelist and Pastor in Alabama. Rusty and Melba moved to Texas in 2002, where he served as interim Pastor for several congregations. Rusty, Pastor of Dobbs Valley Baptist Church in Santo, Texas for the last 3 years until his death. He loved his family, was passionate for God’s word, and served the Lord faithfully
Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Marvel Bloodworth; brother Lester Bloodworth; daughter Kimberly Bloodworth; and grandchildren Brian and Jennifer Williams. Rusty is survived by his wife of 54 years, Melba; siblings and their spouses, Susie Stiles, Jerry and Pam Bloodworth, Tom and Julie Ware, Terry and Margie Sanders, George and Gabriele Bloodworth, Claudia Bloodworth, and Larry and Janit Bloodworth; children and their spouses, Timmy and Sherrie Adams, Travis and Stephanie Sharp, and Brandon Bloodworth; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held on February 3rd, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Dobbs Valley Baptist Church.
