Melody Jo Brown

May 25, 1950 — June 14, 2017

Melody Jo Jones Brown (Memaw), 67, of Weatherford joined her beloved husband, David, in their heavenly home at the feet of Jesus on June 14, 2017. She was surrounded by family and friends, in her home, as she took her last breath. She was an ovarian cancer survivor who courageously beat the odds of survival!! Melody was born on May 25, 1950 in Weatherford, Texas to Joseph Riley and Evelyn Fern Jones. Melody married the love of her life, David Errol Brown, on August 16, 1969 at Couts Methodist Church in Weatherford. Melody attended Brock Schools and was an avid basketball player for Brock and helped take her team to the State Tournament all 4 of her high school years.

She went on to attend Weatherford College where she played basketball for the Lady Coyotes and then to Tarleton State University where she received her bachelor's degree in Home Economics. She served her husband as an Army Wife during and after her secondary education. Following their military years, they worked together as a team in a number of business endeavors including woodworking, custom picture framing, home building, and ultimately commercial construction under the guidance of her father "Joe" in a family business, JRJ Construction, along with her brother Randy. Her children and nephew continue that legacy.

Melody loved to cook, sew, spend time with and teach her grandchildren, and invest in the eternal lives of the children at North Side Baptist, specifically 1st grade Sunday School.

Melody made a profession of Faith at the age of eight and followed Jesus her entire life. She was a deacon's wife at North Side Baptist Church and served the children's ministry of NSBC for approximately 40 years beginning by being director of the Girls in Action(GA's) and then as the 1st grade Sunday School teacher until her illness prevented her from doing so. First grade Sunday School at North Side Baptist Church is known for its Armor of God series in which she and David helped each child make their own armor.

Melody was a servant to all she came in contact with and many remember dearly the way she initially met them treating them like they were another member of her family. Her life touched an innumerable amount of people. She lived her life as a beautiful example of a Child of God and helped others to focus on HIS kingdom.

She is survived by her daughter Mende JoDel Feriend & husband Adam; Son Dustin Errol Brown; daughter in love, Doria; Five precious grandchildren: Adison LeRoy Feriend(12), Asher Luke Feriend(10), Easton David Brown(9), Ace Landry Feriend(7), and Adia Rae Brown(5).
