Mary Nell Dougherty, 92, of Weatherford, passed away early Saturday, August 11, 2018, in Weatherford.
Committal service: 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 15, at the Smyrna Cemetery in Atlanta, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon, August 14, from 3 until 5, at the Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford.
Mary Nell was born May 3, 1926, in DeWitt, Texas to Henry and Verna Edgar. She married John Frank Dougherty. Together they enjoyed traveling the world as her husband was an engineer/construction foreman for American Bridge Company. John and Mary moved from Pasadena, Texas to Weatherford in 1997 to be near family. She will be remembered for her free and independent spirit and for her love of travel and adventure. Mary Nell was known to be one who took care of her friends in need.
Mary Nell is survived by her nieces and nephews, John and Anita Dougherty and Bob and Ruth Fletcher; cousins, Mary Wallace, Roselyn Morris, Sallie Smith, Kay Cooper, Sandra Stary, and John Oneill; and by her special dear friends, Martin and DeQuitta Coleman and Clarence and Linda Fewell; and by numerous extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mary Nell was preceded in death by her husband, John Frank Dougherty on March 23, 2005 and by her brother, Hank Edgar.
