Mary Maxine Roberts

December 22, 1932 — July 31, 2017

Mary Drake Roberts left this earth on July 31, 2017 to join her heavenly Father and her beloved husband, Bill Roberts, who preceded her death in 2006. Graveside services will be at East Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, TX at 10:00am on Friday, August 4, 2017. Brother Kerry Patton will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm Thursday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.

Mary Maxine Drake was born December 22, 1932 in Cedar Bayou, TX to Lee and Cleda Drake. She married the love of her life, W.W. “Bill” Roberts, on September 5, 1951 in Weatherford, TX. She and her husband ran a dairy farm for many years near Lake Weatherford. They also spent several years with Bell Helicopter in Amarillo, TX and Tehran, Iran, before returning to Weatherford in 1977.

Mary began working outside the home by driving a school bus for the Weatherford School District. She also worked for AMPI, (American Milk Producers, Inc.) in Amarillo and for the US Government in Tehran, Iran. Upon returning to Weatherford, she worked for the oil industry for many years until her retirement (for the second time) from Neuhoff-Taylor in Aledo, TX.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, W.W. “Bill” Roberts Jr; her eldest son Tuffy Lee Roberts; her eldest grandchild Terry Lee Roberts; brothers Robert Lee Drake and C.A. Drake.

She is survived by her daughter Naomi Roberts Woodard and husband Mark of Amarillo; her son W.W. “Bill” Roberts, III of Galveston. She is also survived by her loving family, grandchildren Tracy Garvin and husband Troy; Danica Hannah and husband Tom; Nathan Woodard and wife Miranda Moore; W.W. “Billy” Roberts,IV and wife Dr. Robyn Roberts; Randy Roberts; Paul Roberts and Ella Roberts. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Geis; Bayleigh Garvin; Calleigh Garvin; Benjamin Jacobsen, and Liam, Henry and Finn Roberts. In addition she is survived by two sisters, Helen Hokit and Dorothy Lamb, and two daughters-in-law Paula Roberts; Janice Gilliland and husband Al.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Weatherford Christian School, 111 E. Columbia St, Weatherford, TX 76086 or your favorite charity.
