Laverne Eula Manire

LaVerne Eula Manire went to be with the Lord peacefully on Thursday morning, September 21, 2017. She was born and raised in Bridgeport to Lela and Frank Wood. LaVerne lived in Weatherford most of her life. She owned and operated South Bowie Day Care the past 32 years. LaVerne was a longtime member of North Side Baptist Church and served as a director of G.A.’s for a number of years.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Carter of Weatherford; sons, Tracy and wife Melinda Manire of Weatherford, Joey and wife Teresa Manire of Arlington; brother, James and wife Shirley Wood of Decatur; sister-in-law, Bennie Wood of Fort Worth. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Carly Manire, Joe Carter, Chrystal and husband Jack Owens, Tara and husband Jason DeFrance, Katie and husband Taylor JuVette; great-grandchildren, Corbin and Haylin DeFrance.
LaVerne is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Rowboat” Manire; son-in-law, Bob Carter; sister, Lorene and Wayne Garrett; and brother, Benny Wood.
Visitation will be 6-8 Friday at North Side Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be 2 pm Saturday, September 23 at North Side Baptist Church with burial following at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Parker Paws or North Side Baptist Church.
