Obituary for Inez Johnson

Inez M. Johnson of Abilene, TX went to be with her Lord Saturday, February 2, 2018. She died at College Park Rehab and Nursing in Weatherford, TX. She was 89 years old.

Inez was born March 1, 1929 to Eva Deatherage Massey and Dave B. Massey of Hamby, TX. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1947. She married Charlie Johnson of Abilene, they moved to Albuquerque, NM and lived most of their married life there. After her husband died from a car accident in 1970, Inez moved back to Abilene, TX making it her home.

Mrs. Johnson was a bookkeeper for several prominent banking and oil businesses in the Abilene area. She enjoyed working and had tremendous knowledge of the corporate world. Inez enjoyed spending time with her sisters and also was an excellent candy cook, especially pralines.

She was preceded in death by her best friend and husband Charlie Johnson, October 1968; two sisters, Dorothy Massey Hughes of Merkel, TX November 21, 2015; Jane Massey Lohn of Abilene, TX February 20, 2016. She is survived with one son Steven Webb Johnson and daughter-in-law Kate Johnson; one granddaughter Phoebe and one grandson, Zac, all living in Toongabbie, N.S.W. Australia; and one niece Lisa Hughes of Weatherford, TX. who cared for her several years.

The family would like to express thanks to College Park Rehab and Envoy Hospice for their care, concern and compassion.
