Billy John Harrison, 87, of Dennis passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Funeral service: 2 p.m, Monday, August 8, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Dennis with Rev. Danny Shearman officiating. Interment: Holders Cemetery at Buckner. Visitation: 5-7 p.m, Sunday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Billy was born April 19, 1929 in Dennis to Barney and Myrtle Stephens Harrison. Billy was in Army Intelligence during the Korean Conflict, receiving a Bronze Star. He was the assistant director of transportation and public works for City of Fort Worth and retired after 35 ½ years. Prior to retirement, he was active in the Fort Worth community serving in the Kiwanis Club and as a Sunday School teacher at Bethel United Methodist Church. In his later years, Billy was active in the Dennis Community where he is affectionately known as the “Mayor of Dennis”. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dennis and donated the land on 1189 where the Brock/Dennis Volunteer Fire Department is located. Billy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Naomi; daughter, Duana Lynn Harrison Dial and husband John Schwain Dial of Dennis; the light of his life grandson, Jordan Sterling Harrison Dial and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
