Betty Mozelle Letz

Betty Mozelle Burgeson Letz, 88, with her family by her side she entered the gates of heaven on October 9, 2017.

Betty was born January 20, 1929 in Stamford, Texas to Everett and Dorothy (Beene) Burgeson. At the age of three, Betty lost both parents and went to live with her grandparents, William and Molly Beene. Three years later her grandmother passed away and she was welcomed into her aunt and uncles home, Tom and Nannie Beene. With this move, Betty gained two wonderful sister-cousins, Juanita and Ernestine.

Betty graduated as valedictorian of the 1946 class of Sagerton High School. She married Edward Lee Letz on July 19, 1947 in Rule, Texas. Betty was an active partner in all of their business endeavors. In addition, she participated in all of her children’s school and extracurricular activities—she was their biggest cheerleader. Ed and Betty raised all four of their children in Old Glory Texas, and later moved to Sweetwater Texas. After Ed’s death, Betty relocated to Weatherford Texas in 2006. Betty approached each day with positivity, optimism, and a genuineness that people gravitated to throughout her life, thus she is leaving behind many friends and a loving family.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Edward, and a daughter Stephanie Zugg. And her sister-cousins, Ernestine Hargrove and Juanita Florence.

She will be missed by her daughter Reva Kester and her husband Ronnie of Weatherford. Her daughter Regina Hamm and husband Berry of Dallas. Her son Russell Letz and wife Rhonda of El Paso. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Shane and Sarah Kester, Andy and Shea Hudson, Philip and Banner Hamm, Blake and Marsha Bell, Kevin and Sarah Arnold, Kevin and Nicole Letz, Chris and Abbie Carlson. Her pride and joy great grand-children: Cole and Grant Kester, Laney and Coy Hudson, Savannah and Emily Bell, Logan and Colton Letz, Kamryn, Corie Jo, and Kennedy Carlson. Also survived by a sister-in-law, Angeline Kolb and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church in Weatherford Texas at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 12, 2017. Visitation will be held at 9 am Thursday, one hour before the services at the church. Burial Services will be held at Old Glory Cemetery in Old Glory Texas at 3:30pm on Thursday, October 12, 2017. Betty was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Dr. Ann Hitt will be officiating the services, with her grandsons being pallbearers.
