Obituary for Audrey Anita Beddow

Audrey Anita Beddow, 81, of Weatherford, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 27, 2017, at Weatherford Regional Medical Center in Weatherford.
An “Irish Wake” celebrating her life will begin at 12:00, Sunday afternoon, August 6, 2017, at her home, 326 Beaumont Drive, in Weatherford. Burial will be private at a later date in East Texas.
Audrey was born September 10, 1935, in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was the last of 11 children born to Arthur and Audrey Gilfillan. Audrey met her husband, William “Sarge” Beddow, at age 17, in Fort Worth. They were married December 6, 1952 and celebrated nearly 65 years of marriage. Audrey followed her husband around the world as he served his country in the USAF. She enjoyed watching old classic movies, was a WWII historian, and was a devout Texas Rangers Baseball fan. She served as Ladies Auxillary president of the Amvets, in Rantoul, Illinois. Most of all, Audrey will affectionately be remembered for being the ‘matriarch’ of her family and for raising her 7 children in addition to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Audrey is survived by her husband, William “Sarge” Beddow; children, Patricia Gaines, Dana Beddow, Vicki Hedges, Rebecca (Michael) Thorman, Stephen Beddow, and Barbara Benson; 10 grandchildren, Stacy, Michael, Matthew, Shane, Trina, Sarah, Audrey, Ryan, Eric, and Jeffrey; and by numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her son, William B. Beddow; her son-in-law, Dennis Gaines; and by 10 brothers and sisters.
